Room demand, which represents the number of rooms rented in the city, totaled 116,647 in October, a 4.5 percent increase from 111,577 in the same month last year. October room demand also was the eighth best month on record, according to the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau’s December newsletter.

Through October, year-to-date room demand was 1.1 million, a roughly 3 percent increase from a year earlier.

The October average daily rate for Queen City hotels was the second-highest figure on record at $82.13, $4.47 above $77.66 last year. Through October, the year-to-date average daily rate moved up to $79.89 from $75.41, according to the CVB.

Room sales, the CVB reports, were the third highest to date in October.

Hotel operators collected $9.6 million in revenue from room sales in October, bringing the year-to-date total up to $86.7 million. The $8.7 million in October 2014 brought last year’s total to $79.4 million through the month.
