Nonprofit antifraud organization National Insurance Crime Bureau posted a list of 2018 vehicle theft rates.
It shows the top 40 U.S. metropolitan areas with vehicle theft rates greater than 400 per 100,000 people.
No. 30 Springfield had a 2018 vehicle theft rate of 450.8 per 100,000 residents. No. 19 Joplin was at 473.4 per 100,000 residents.
No. 1 Albuquerque, New Mexico, had 780.2 vehicle thefts per 100,000 residents last year.
