Springfield hotel room sales passed the $100 million mark in 2015 for the first time in the city’s history.
During the year, the average daily rate hit a high of $79.47, according to information provided by the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“Last year was the second consecutive year of records for Springfield’s hotel and travel industry and 2016 could be the third,” CVB President and CEO Tracy Kimberlin said in a news release.
The release cited the openings of Hotel Vandivort, Hampton Inn & Suites and TownPlace Suites, as well as renovations to the Ramada Plaza Hotel & Oasis Convention Center and University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center.
According to the CVB, a record of more than 9,100 people representing 39 countries visited the city’s Route 66 Information Center in 2015. The bureau’s website also received over 1 million unique visitors during the year.
