Springfield homes prices climb

Springfield home prices, including distressed sales, rose 5.4 percent in August compared to the same month a year ago, according to the latest data released by Santa Ana, Calif.-based real estate data tracking firm CoreLogic (NYSE: CLGX).

Excluding distressed sales - comprising short sales and real estate owned transactions - prices increased by 6.1 percent during the month.

National home prices, including distressed sales, jumped by 12.4 percent in August, representing the 18th consecutive month of year-to-year increases. Prices excluding distressed sales rose 11.2 percent, the release said.

In Missouri, real estate agents sold 6,927 homes during August at an average price of $166,607, a 10.2 percent increase from the same month of 2012, according to recently released data by the Missouri Association of Realtors.
