Springfield home prices drop in December

Springfield home prices, including distressed sales, dropped 1.4 percent in December compared to the same month in 2013.

Compared to November, prices were down 2.7 percent, according to a news release from real estate market tracker CoreLogic.

Excluding distressed sales, December prices rose 1.8 percent compared to the same month last year but fell 1.2 percent from November.

Missouri home prices, both including and excluding distressed sales rose year to year in December - by 4.9 percent and 3.1 percent, respectively, according to the release.

Including distressed sales, U.S. home prices increased 5 percent in December from the same month in 2013. Compared to November, prices ticked down 0.1 percent.

Excluding distressed sales, U.S. home prices increased 4.9 percent in December from a year earlier and by 0.1 percent from a month earlier, according to the release.

"Nationally, home price growth moderated and stabilized at 5 percent the last four months of the year,” said Sam Khater, deputy chief economist at CoreLogic, in the release.[[In-content Ad]]
