Springfield, MO
Lathrom comes to the city from the Missouri State Auditor’s Office, most recently at its Springfield office, according to a city news release.
She was a part of the team that conducted the state audits of Springfield and City Utilities that were released in December. One recommendation in the city’s scathing audit report was that Springfield hire an internal auditor.
The city received 15 qualified applicants for the job, and council reviewed three finalists in closed session on July 29.
Lathrom has been with the state auditor’s office since 1995 and is now a senior auditor III. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Missouri State University and a master’s degree in business administration.
Lathrom will report to the City Council Finance Committee, and her office will be in the Busch Building, the release said. Her base salary is $69,430, according to city spokeswoman Louise Whall.
“We believe April will be a new asset for the city to assure council and the public that taxpayer dollars are being used responsibly,” Mayor Pro Tem Gary Deaver said in the release.[[In-content Ad]]
