Volunteer groups will simultaneously raise the walls of three houses, to be built in partnership with local families in need in the Legacy Trails community, 3800 N. FR 143, as part of its “Builders Blitz” program.
This blitz build differs from previous projects in that, while earlier blitz-build houses were completed one-at-a-time in about a week, these three homes will be built simultaneously over the course of a month.
“The Builders Blitz is Habitat Springfield’s first ever multihouse blitz project, and we are in urgent need of professional builders, subcontractors and suppliers who can volunteer their time or donate materials,” said Anna Codutti, Habitat development director, in a news release.
JR Kramer Construction, Campbell New Home Construction and Boyd’s Builders have already signed on to help begin construction of the homes. Gillespie Excavating has donated more than $3,000 in services, and a donation from Cedar Creek Wholesale also is helping to fund the project.
