Springfield foreclosures down in August

Springfield's foreclosure rate decreased to 0.63 percent in August, a drop from 1 percent in the same month last year, according to a news release from real estate market tracker CoreLogic (NYSE: CLGX)

CoreLogic measures the foreclosure rate as the percentage of loans in some stage of the foreclosure process. The Springfield foreclosure rate was recorded at 0.67 percent in July.

The Missouri rate dropped to 0.84 percent in August from 1.3 percent a year ago, and the U.S. figure decreased to 2.4 percent from 3.3 percent, the release said. The Missouri foreclosure rate was 0.89 percent in July, and the U.S. rate was reported at 2.43 percent.

The Springfield mortgage delinquency rate - a precursor of foreclosures representing mortgage loans 90 days or more delinquent - was 2.5 percent in August, down from 3.1 percent a year ago. The Missouri rate dropped to 3.5 percent from 4.2 percent, and the U.S. rate moved down to 5.3 percent from 6.8 percent, according to the release.
