Springfield foreclosure rate falls to 0.49%

Real estate market tracker CoreLogic reports the Springfield foreclosure rate dropped to 0.49 percent in August, down from 0.65 percent in the same month of 2013.

The Queen City level also was lower than the national foreclosure rate of 1.61 percent - down from 2.4 percent a year earlier - and the Missouri rate of 0.64 percent - down from 0.87 percent in August 2013. CoreLogic measures the rate as the percentage of mortgage loans in some stage of the foreclosure process, according to a news release.

The Springfield mortgage delinquency rate - a measure of mortgage loans at least 90 days delinquent - decreased to 2.15 percent from 2.57 percent in August 2013. The Missouri rate fell to 3.08 percent from 3.52 percent, and the national rate dropped to 4.28 percent from 5.38 percent.

Springfield's July foreclosure rate was 0.45 percent, according to the release.
