The city of Springfield is putting up another fire station, this time to serve the southwest part of the city.|ret||ret||tab|
The $1.6 million, 15,600-square-foot structure is being constructed by general contractor Flintco Inc. Mark Terbrock is the project manager.|ret||ret||tab|
The architect for the station is John Torgerson with Pellham-Phillips-Hagerman.|ret||ret||tab|
A September completion is planned for the project, which will consist of a four-bay engine garage, living area, kitchen facilities, sleeping quarters and a community room. The community room will be used for public meetings and it includes marker boards with "smart board" technology.|ret||ret||tab|

Fire Station No. 8 will be similar in design to the recently completed Fire Station No. 1 on Grand Street across from Southwest Mis-souri State University. However, Fire Station No. 8 will be larger. [[In-content Ad]]
