Michael Clarke opened his new office at 3150 S. National Ave. on June 1. Clarke formerly rented space in Cox Medical Arts Building, 1000 E. Primrose. He said the new space, which he rents from fellow doctor Elpidio Alcancia for an undisclosed amount, offers more convenience for his patients.
“There’s no elevators, no parking problems, and it’s very easy to come in right off of National – customers can park right within 20 or 30 feet of the door,” Clarke said. “And then of course we can offer so many more services here.”
Those services include surgical X-rays, special injections for pain relief and treatment for arthritic conditions.
Clarke also is in the process of trying to get office-based surgery accreditation, which would allow him to perform surgeries in the office.
Accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the same group that accredits both CoxHealth and St. John’s, involves several requirements, including proper record-keeping and inspection of office operating rooms for everything from sprinkler systems to operating tables to required special lighting.
