Springfield CVB launches smart-phone app

Visitors to Springfield can now use their cell phones and mobile devices to get hotel and entertainment information directly from the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.
 
The CVB's new application is available for users of iPhones, BlackBerry devices and other Internet-enabled cell phones. An app for Android users will be available soon, according to a CVB news release.

The bureau said it is the first in Missouri to develop a destination-specific app for mobile devices.

The app, which is free for download and use, includes GPS location tracking and integrated mapping to show users what events and attractions are near their location. It also features itinerary planning, an events calendar, coupons, photo galleries, a searchable database of area attractions and the ability to share trip pictures and details via Twitter, Facebook and Flickr.
