Springfield contractor awarded Branson project

Posted online
Carson-Mitchell Inc. was given authorization yesterday to build an operations and maintenance building at a Branson wastewater plant.

During its meeting yesterday, the Branson Board of Aldermen gave the Springfield-based general contractor the nod to construct the facility at the city’s Cooper Creek wastewater treatment plant, according to a news release.

In January, Carson-Mitchell submitted the lowest bid of $833,700 for the project. The city received seven proposals, with the highest bid of $1.1 million submitted by Springfield’s MSI Contractors, according to the board agenda.

Building plans call for office and work space for Branson’s utilities water distribution and sewer collection personnel, as well as five garage bays to house operation equipment including sewer flushers, excavating equipment and utility trucks. The project also includes an unload station and two inventory staging areas.

Construction costs - which cannot exceed Carson-Mitchell’s bid - were figured into the city of Branson’s 2015 capital budget for utilities, according to the agenda.
