The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce has announced seven candidates under consideration to serve on its board of directors.
The organization’s Directors Nominating Committee submitted the slate of candidates for review, following a nomination period last month. Those chosen will serve three-year terms on the chamber board beginning in January 2024, according to a news release.

Of those nominated, Rutledge is the lone candidate currently serving on the board, according to the chamber’s website. The chamber’s board comprises approximately 30 members.
The general membership may nominate additional candidates by petition. Those nominated must have signatures of at least 25 primary chamber members in good standing if the candidate’s willingness to accept board responsibilities has been determined in advance.
Deadline to nominate additional candidates is noon on Oct. 19. If no other candidates are nominated, the seven nominees submitted by the committee will be installed on the board.
