Sunshine Lanes remains temporarily closed after recent storms caused a live power line to fall on the roof of the building, starting a small fire and causing a power outage, according to a post from its Facebook page.
The bowling center, which initially closed after the severe weather on June 29, said the Springfield Fire Department quickly responded to the fire, and no customers or staff were injured. There was also no damage to the bowling equipment, according to a statement on the business’ website.
General Manager Keegan Standage said in an email that the center is still assessing damage to the building and does not have a clear date for reopening. She said Sunshine Lanes will keep customers informed of the ongoing closure through its Facebook page.
“We’re updating that one day at a time when we know for sure we will be closed the next day,” Standage said.
The most recent closing day listed is today, July 9.
The business is still working on restoring power to the building, according to the statement. It also said staff members will be contacting league participants and those with reservations to inform them of the ongoing closure.
“The center will absolutely reopen,” Standage said. “Just need the power back on and get to a few things in place from the fire.”
