Springfield, Bolivar projects break ground

Posted online
Construction begins today for two projects in Springfield and Bolivar that together total about $9.7 million.

Citizens Memorial Healthcare in Bolivar broke ground this morning for its medical office building/ambulatory surgical center, across the street from the main entrance of the hospital on North Oakland Avenue.

The ceremony launched construction of a $6.8 million two-story center that will house 26,000 square feet for physician offices and clinical space and 14,000 square feet for a new outpatient surgical center. Funding will come from the system's foundation and private investor contributions.

Plans for the surgical center include new operating rooms and recovery and support areas. Construction is expected to be complete by February.

This afternoon, a 1:30 groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to begin construction of the Boys & Girls Clubs’ new Henderson Unit building.

The 21,000-square-foot facility will replace the old Henderson Unit, 1300 Boonville Ave., which was built in 1948. It will house a technology center, arts and crafts room, dance and fitness room, music room, learning center, gymnasium, teen center, social and recreation space and an industrial kitchen.

Funding for the estimated $2.9 million center will come from private, foundation and in-kind contributions.

The Henderson Unit will be the third building to be constructed at a Springfield-Greene County Park Board site. The land is leased to the club through a management agreement.[[In-content Ad]]
