Springfield attorney named president-elect

Springfield attorney C. Ronald Baird Sept. 21 was named president-elect of The Missouri Bar. Baird joins Douglas A. Copeland, president and Charlie J. Harris Jr., vice president, on the executive committee for 2005–2006.

Baird is a shareholder in Baird, Lightner & Millsap PC. He is a graduate of University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and has been a member of the MU Board of Governors since 1996.

Copeland is a founding member and principal of Clayton firm Copeland, Thompson & Farris PC. He is a graduate of St. Louis University School of Law and joined the school’s board in 1996.

Kansas City attorney Harris is the first black vice president of the bar. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and has been on its board since 1999. He is a partner in Berkowitz, Oliver, Williams, Shaw & Eisenbrandt LLP.

The three, with other newly elected members Dana Tippin Cutler, of Kansas City, Edward J. Hershewe, of Joplin, and Richard Bresnahan, of St. Louis, and current officers, make up the bar’s executive committee.
