Springfield attorney appointed to MSU board

Posted online
Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Husch Blackwell LLP attorney Virginia Fry to the Missouri State University Board of Governors.

Fry, a managing partner of the Kansas City- and St. Louis-based law firm's Springfield office, would succeed hotelier Gordon Elliott on the MSU governing body, according to Scott Holste, a spokesman for Nixon's office.

The governor also appointed Kansas City resident James Kendall Seal to succeed Cathy Smith, of Trenton, vice president and secretary of L.E.T. Inc., according to a news release. Seal works as a supervising attorney and director of medical-legal partnerships at Legal Aid of Western Missouri.

Both appointees' terms would start immediately upon Missouri Senate confirmation, with their tenures ending Jan. 1, 2019, the release said.
