A $3.3 million, 9,900-square-foot addition to the Springfield Art museum will add three galleries and a library for art patrons. Rich Kramer Construction Inc. is the general contractor, with architecture and engineering design work by St. Louis-based Paul Marti Associates Architects and Springfield-based Marshall-Waters-Woody Associates Inc. The expansion features decorative masonry walls with glass-block panels and stucco cornice. Some funding for the expansion comes from late benefactors who bequeathed donations for the project. Southwest Missouri Museum Associates also contributed $200,000, and the museum is seeking additional donors. The added space will be climate-controlled, which will help to extend the life expectancy of the museum’s collection, which comprises more than 9,000 pieces valued at more than $5 million. Completion is scheduled for July.
