Two Springfield-area businesses are among the top companies in the country, according to Forbes.

Forbes in November published its America’s Best Companies list, ranking 500 businesses based on metrics such as financial performance, customer sentiment, employee ratings and cybersecurity.

Springfield-based auto parts retailer O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) is No. 39 on the list. The company reported third-quarter net income of $725.9 million, a 9.1% increase from $665.5 million a year earlier, according to past reporting.

Ranking in at No. 176 is Monett-based financial software company Jack Henry & Associates Inc. (Nasdaq: JKHY). Past reporting indicates Jack Henry posted third-quarter net income of $144 million, up from $119.2 million a year earlier.

Berkshire Hathaway is No. 1 on the America’s Best Companies list, followed by No. 2 Amazon and No. 3 Royal Caribbean Group. O'Reilly Automotive is the highest-ranking Missouri company on the list.

Best in state
Springfield-area companies also had a strong showing on a separate Forbes list released last month that evaluates employers at the state level.

The America’s Best-in-State list comprises 750 companies, with criteria including consumer and employee ratings.

Springfield-area companies that ranked on the Missouri list are as follows:
• No. 4 O'Reilly Automotive
• No. 6 Jack Henry & Associates
• No. 13 Prime Inc.
• No. 16 Forvis Mazars LLP
