Roughly 1.55 million passengers used the Springfield-Branson National Airport in 2025, setting a new record.
This marks a 9% increase over the prior year, which set a previous passenger record of 1.42 million in 2024. This is the third straight record year.
The passenger count has increased by more than 70% since 2015.
“The Springfield airport continues to see year-over-year growth that outpaces the aviation industry,” said Brian Weiler, director of aviation at SGF, in a news release. “1.5 million annual passengers is a milestone, and we are thankful to the community for flying Springfield.”
The strength of the Springfield area economy and the region’s overall population growth were cited as factors for the increased usage.
Envoy Air, also known as American Eagle, transported the most passengers in 2025, followed by United and Allegiant.
In 2025, the number of airline seats available in Springfield rose 11.2% over 2024. That indicates growing passenger demand.
Flights leaving Springfield were 87.1% full on average, with 11,495 scheduled flights operating in 2025. That’s an increase in scheduled flights of 8%.
The increase coincides with improvements planned at the airport.

I fly from Springfield multiple times per year. Along with the "RECORD" 1.5 MILLION passengers in 2025 as reported in your article. I am increasingly dismayed at how PACKED the parking lots are ALL THE TIME. Frequently, I have witnessed elderly couples exhausted from the seeming 3 mile hike from the distant lots to the terminal. I recently suffered a leg injury that was very painful to walk on from the same far, far lot.
Why in the world has no one considered building UP instead of AWAY? Heck, it's almost like parking in Christian County! A multi-level lot seems like such a better idea - yes, more costly, but I am sure people would be more than willing to pay increased parking fees. Couldn't there be a grant, Federal Funds, floating Municipal Revenue Bonds applied to mitigate some of the costs??
Or why can't the large Rental Car lot be repurposed as passenger lots (or - here's an idea...move the rental cars to the "Christian County Lot", and build parking garage!! NO disturbance during construction. THEY could easily use small shuttles to bring cars to their patrons. I never see long lines waiting to rent cars...
THEN, I CANNOT FIGURE WHY MONEY IS SPENT on the months-long replacing of the perfectly fine carpet with some hip-mod-a-go-go acrylic hard floor? REALLY?!?!I can't believe not having parking take a huge priority to flooring. What the heck is the Airport Board thinking??? I'm sure they have "special parking" places much closer to the terminal.
How do I find out the next Airport Board meeting schedule?
