The Springfield-Branson National Airport is projecting a third consecutive record year for passenger traffic.
The airport is on track to surpass 1.5 million passengers this year, according to a news release. The two previous records were roughly 1.4 million passengers and nearly 1.3 million passengers in 2024 and 2023, respectively.
"The growth of our airport is a positive reflection of the growing economy in southwest Missouri, as well as the first-class welcome and upgraded facilities we provide at the airport," said Brian Weiler, director of aviation for the Springfield airport, in the release.
Through June, the airport recorded 726,588 passengers, a 9.2% increase compared with the same time last year. Additionally, year-to-date available seats have risen 12.1% to 417,671, with scheduled flights up 10.9% to 5,457. Gallons of fuel sold were up 12.1% to nearly 5.6 million during the first half of 2025.
Passenger traffic has rebounded sharply from the COVID-19 pandemic, as evidenced by past data showing the 2020 passenger count dropped 49.6% to 598,604 for that year, according to past reporting.
In June, the Springfield airport announced a $4 million flooring replacement project, part of some $35 million in construction projects slated for completion in an 18-month period by the end of 2026.
