Two Springfield real estate firms made the 2018 Real Trends 500 listing of the largest residential real estate brokerages in the nation, based on closed-transaction sides and sales volumes.
Murney Associates, Realtors led locally with 5,422 recorded transactions last year, for a national rank of 128. The firm recorded $936.2 million in sales, positioning it at No. 295 on the list for volume.
Keller Williams Realty in Springfield tallied 4,063 transactions and a 197 ranking, as well as $676.9 million in 2017 sales, for the No. 404 ranking.
However, the local Keller Williams team posted a roughly 20 percent gain last year in transactions and sales – up from 3,408 transaction sides and $551 million in volume in 2016.
Murney’s transactions and closed sales volume both decreased by roughly 3 percent from the previous year. The firm recorded 5,607 transaction sides and a volume of $965.8 million in 2016, according to Real Trends.
Firms in the Real Trends 500 combined for 3.2 million residential sales transactions last year, representing a volume of $1.1 trillion, according to a news release. The transactions represent a third of all new and resale transactions completed by brokers nationwide during the year.
“Housing sales in the nation were up 1.1 percent in 2017 from 2016. REAL Trends 500 firms were up 3.3 percent in the same period,” said Real Trends President Steve Murray, in the release. “For the fourth year in a row, the nation’s largest brokerage firms gained market share.”
