Springfield accounting firms Bohl & House LLC and Samek & Co. LLC signed a merger deal late last month.
Finalized Nov. 20, the agreement resulted in a new firm dubbed Bohl, House & Samek CPA’s, said co-owner Edward House. He said the firm he owned with Ryan Bohl is in the process of moving to Ed Samek’s 7,500-square-foot office at 1900 S. Ventura Ave.
House said an undisclosed amount of money changed hands in the deal. Declining to disclose terms, House said the new firm isn’t evenly split.
“There’s a lot of benefits to doing it,” House said, noting Samek approached Bohl & House LLC to conduct the deal. “His primary goal is to make sure his clients are taken care of well into the future.
“The other piece of it was each of our respective firms have their own niches and specializations. By combining them, it gives us a better opportunity to provide additional services to our clients.”
The merger brings together Bohl & House’s small-business practice with Samek & Co.’s auditing, tax, payroll and accounting services focused on health care, agriculture, professional services, construction and nonprofits.
Bohl & House, which previously operated at 1717 E. Republic Road, opened in 2011 and launched an office in Jefferson City two years later. Bohl will continue to maintain offices in both Springfield and Jefferson City.
Samek & Co. was formed in 2011 after Samek, Fritz & Co. broke apart among disputes concerning the company’s ownership structure and assets, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
House said his company’s five full-time employees would join Samek’s seven on South Ventura Avenue by the end of next week.
