Springfield 8

Posted online
Riverside-based Luke Draily Construction Co. Inc. is the general contractor for the expansion and renovation of Springfield 8, which will be renamed Springfield 11. Theater owner ShowPlex Cinemas is adding two standard auditoriums, with a total of 240 seats, and a 300-seat IMAX theater. The rest of the theater will undergo renovations, including new concessions and continued conversion to digital projection systems. The theater will remain open throughout construction, and the project is expected to be complete by Nov. 18, in time for the IMAX release of ‘Happy Feet 2.’ Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. is the architect and the structural engineer for the $4 million project. Other engineers are ESC Inc., civil; and Olsson Associates Inc., mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Architect Bruce Adib-Yazdi, vice president with Butler, Rosenbury & Partners, said the exterior walls and roof are nearly complete, and interior drywall work is beginning.
