Reporter’s Notebook: Gargantuan numbers, like the ones reflected in this spring project report, are hard to visualize. Comparisons help – like the fact that the total area of building renovations and additions in this edition of our Construction in the Ozarks series adds up to 1,073,754 square feet, equivalent to replicating my own house 588 times. In fact, the projects submitted here – which merely scratch the surface of work happening around us – would pack 18-and-a-half football fields. That visualization doesn’t even count another 7 miles of roadway and 104.2 acres of ground development. If it seems like a lot of new construction is popping up out there – that’s because it is. We hope you enjoy this glimpse inside. —Karen Craigo, Reporter
