Fassnight Creek stormwater improvement
1111 E. Brookside Drive

HDR Engineering Inc. is civil, structural, water resources and geotechnical engineer for a stormwater improvement project of Fassnight Creek at the Springfield Art Museum. Roughly 1,200 feet of concrete channel will be removed and replaced with a natural channel, officials say, beautifying the area with Missouri native plants and improving water quality and lowering the flood elevations. The $2.3 million project integrates a pedestrian trail in Phelps Grove Park, part of the museum’s master plan. HDR is also the landscape architect and surveyor. Hartman and Co. Inc. is general contractor, with the city of Springfield’s Department of Public Works serving as project manager. The work is slated for completion in summer 2022.
