Lee’s Summit
Sapp Design Associates Architects PC and Helix Architecture & Design Inc. (Kansas City) redesigned 31 branches and new locations for Kansas City’s Mid-Continent Public Library system, which serves more than 800,000 people. Funded by the passage of Proposition L in 2016, MCPL is investing $113 million to enhance its libraries. Sapp designed the new 18,500-square-foot East Lee’s Summit Branch with community rooms, enclosed meeting and study rooms, designated teen and children’s areas, and an outdoor program space. JE Dunn Construction Co. will serve as general contractor with engineering work by Olsson Inc., civil, structural and landscape; and BranchPattern Inc. (Lincoln, Nebraska), mechanical, electrical and plumbing. The library is expected to be completed in February 2020.
Canine-themed Big Dog Deli LLC opened; The Chicas Club got its start; and Burrell Behavioral Health debuted a new clinic in Marshfield.
