Nine retail stores are under construction adjacent to Kohl’s in Branson, according to Nancy Koch, spokeswoman for St. Louis-based owner/developer Branson Shoppes Development Co. Walton Construction is the general contractor for the project, which will put Petco, Books A Million and Best Buy on the east side of Kohl’s. Best Buy, the largest of the new properties, will be 30,000 square feet. Michael’s, MC Sports, Dress Barn, Shoe Carnival and Maurice’s will be located on the west side. Bed, Bath and Beyond will stand alone on the west side with 25,000 square feet. Larry Snyder & Co. of Ozark handled excavation for the project, designed by Archimages Inc. of St. Louis. The structural engineer is Ibrahim Engineering of St. Louis, and the civil engineer is Pickett, Ray and Silver of St. Peters. The mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers are St. Louis-based firms Conrad & Associates and Ædifica Case Engineering. Koch said the project has an estimated cost of $26 million; the lender is National City Bank of St. Louis. The first of the retail stores is expected to open in mid-July, Koch said.
