Spring 2008 Project Report: Green Circle Shopping Center

MSB Construction is the general contractor for developer Matt O’Reilly’s Green Circle Shopping Center, for which he is pursuing platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification. The center will have a green roof that uses vegetation to absorb storm-water runoff. Other storm water reduction measures used for the center are a cistern system and permeable pavement. O’Reilly said the $3.3 million, 18,000-square-foot center is substantially complete, and he plans to open his outdoor outfitting store, Dynamic Earth, in Green Circle by the end of the month. HufftProjects LLC of Prairie Village, Kan., is the architect. Engineers are Genesis Design, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; Silverhill Co. LLC, structural; and Olsson & Associates, civil. Environmental Market Solutions Inc. is the sustainability consultant for the project. O’Reilly said the center’s other tenants – Mama Jean’s Natural Foods, San Francisco Oven, Dynamic Body Yoga & Pilates Studio and Swig, a smoothie and coffee shop – are working on infill.
