Spotify planning IPO for this fall

Popular music-streaming company Spotify has participated in informal chats with some of the investment banks likely to fight for a role in a potential IPO, sources familiar with the process told Quartz.

Launched in 2008 by Swedish entrepreneurs Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, Spotify has grown to challenge rivals such as Pandora, which was founed in 2000 and went public three years ago.

A spokesman for Spotify declined to comment for the Quartz report.
