Sports Commission names executive director

Bobbi Box has been hired as executive director of the Greater Springfield Area Sports Commission.

She replaces John Citron, who resigned in January, according to a news release.

Box also is sports sales manager at the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau and will continue in that role. The CVB oversees the sports commission.

Box worked in sales for the CVB 1992-96 and then spent time as a national sales manager for USA Today and the Springfield News-Leader before returning to the CVB in July 2007. She has a bachelor's degree in public administration from Missouri State University.
