Splendor Pointe Resort plans to open for the Christmas season, despite some delays in construction.
Karen Patton, whose company, KLR Enterprises, is building the resort on Table Rock Lake near the Highway 86 bridge, said the company had a 29-week delay while it was waiting for the steel portion of its building to be erected.
The resort, which will include a yacht club, hotel, restaurants and meeting rooms, has to be complete by Nov. 1 because it is booking Christmas parties right now, Patton said.
Despite her prior plans to find a partner for the rental and maintenance of boats for the yacht club, Patton said she is now planning to maintain the boats at the resort facility and for the resort to have its own service center. The resort now has an application pending before the Army Corps of Engineers to expand its number of slips from eight to 20.
Karen Neisler, realty specialist with the Army Corps of Engineers, said the public comment period on Splendor Pointe's proposal ended Aug. 20. The Corps will now gather those comments and couple them with its own assessment of the request in order to determine whether to allow the Splendor Pointe expansion.
"We will wait until after the comment period and then make our determination. We have looked at the Splendor Pointe proposal, yes, but we will wait to make our assessment until we have evaluated all the comments," Neisler said.
