The board of low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines rejected a takeover bid by JetBlue Airways.
Officials with Spirit said the deal had a low likelihood of winning approval from government regulators due to antitrust concerns.
JetBlue responded by enhancing its offer with a $200 million reverse break-up fee should the deal not go through.
