Special Ribbon Cutting

Special Olympics Southwest Area moved its offices to Hammons Tower, 901 E. St. Louis St., Ste. 200-17. The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors conducted a Nov. 16 ribbon-cutting ceremony.

At right, Jerald Andrews of Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and Special Olympics board member shares his memories of Special Olympics events. Next to Andrews, athlete Thomas Williamson hugs Kristen Garver. Williamson received a gold medal in bowling at the 2006 National Games.

Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with mental disabilities, says Development Coordinator Jennifer Winterrose. The Special Olympics office is open 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call (417) 887-7766.
