Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt has called for two special elections to fill vacancies left by resignations by Sen. John Dolan and Rep. Jack Goodman.
Dolan resigned Nov. 11 from his seat in the 2nd Senatorial District to accept a position in the private sector, said Blunt spokesperson Jessica Robinson. The district covers part of Lawrence County.
Also with an open seat is the 132nd House of Representatives District following the Nov. 28 resignation of Goodman, R-Mount Vernon, who was elected to the Senate seat in the same district, Robinson said. The district covers Lincoln and St. Charles counties.
Candidates for the House seat must file with the Secretary of State’s Office by 5 p.m. Jan. 3. The special House election is scheduled for Feb. 7.
Candidates for the Senate seat have until 5 p.m. Jan. 31 to file. The special election is scheduled for April 4.
