It’s designed to eventually send astronauts to the moon and beyond. And SpaceX's Starship rocket is making process, completing nearly an entire test flight through space on its third try on March 14. While the rocket has been gaining speed, too, it disintegrated on its return to Earth this trip.
During a webcast of the flight, mission control reportedly lost communication with Starship while the spacecraft was re-entering the planet's atmosphere at hypersonic speed. In space for about an hour, after launching from south Texas, the spacecraft never made its planned splashdown in the Indian Ocean.
