S&P throws Tesla's surging shares on the junk heap

Standard & Poor's apparently thinks Tesla can't hold its charge. That is the implication, at least, behind the recently downgraded credit rating S&P just hit the carmaker with.
 
The B- rating lands Tesla in the "junk" heap, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.
 
S&P analysts cite narrow product focus, flagging production and lack of experience in making and delivering its electric cars, as well as increasing competition in the electric-car market, as some of the causes for the downgrade. S&P went so far as to predict Tesla might default as soon as 2017.
