S&P 500 hits all-time high

The S&P 500 has been on a roll this year.

The index has gained 1.5 percent in the first three months of 2014, and CNNMoney reports that it passed its previous high of 1,883.97 when it hit 1,884.64 Tuesday morning.

April is traditionally the top performing month of the year for stocks, according to the report, with an average return of 1.7 percent.
