The Southwest Missouri Office on Aging changed its name to the SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging.
Officials with the social services agency nonprofit, 1735 S. Fort Ave., say the rebranding was brought on by a need to better communicate its services to community members.
“Southwest Missouri Office on Aging is a mouthful, especially when you’re trying to explain what it is to seniors,” said Juli Jordan, SeniorAge’s marketing and development director. “We wanted something fresh and new. To us, SeniorAge really says it all.”
Jordan said the nonprofit has budgeted $30,000 to change signage, business cards and stationery. The company will seek bids for new signage and a scrolling message board at its Fort Avenue location.
The March 15 change was announced in a news release issued last week to Springfield Business Journal.
The organization’s logo also changed from a blue circle and white arrow to a path surrounded by multicolored leaves.
SeniorAge is one of 10 agencies in Missouri providing senior citizens with such services as care coordination, nutrition, health and wellness programs, transportation, Medicare education and enrollment, and tax assistance.
Jordan said SeniorAge has a lease program with 36 senior centers covering 17 counties in southwest Missouri.
Under the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging banner, the 1973-founded nonprofit reported a 2016 operating budget of $11.5 million, 162 employees and more than 1,600 volunteers, according to Springfield Business Journal list research.
The scores have been tabulated for Springfield Business Journal’s 2025 Dynamic Dozen, recognizing the 12 fastest-growing companies in the Ozarks.
