Simmons Foods' wastewater treatment facility at its processing plant is preparing to install a $2 million sequential batch reactor.

The reactor is designed to help reduce the total amount of nitrogen released into Cave Springs Branch, which is a tributary of Grand Lake.

Work on the project will start immediately, said Mark Simmons, chairman of the board of directors for Simmons.

The project should be completed in about eight months and will be reviewed by the Department of Natural Resources.[[In-content Ad]]
