Southwest Missouri News--Shell Knob

Posted online

by Carol Harris

Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon has asked the Barry County Circuit Court to issue an order which would immediately stop wastewater discharges from the Hinkle Point Pizza Hut into Table Rock Lake.

Nixon sought the injunction May 14 against the Shell Knob Pizza Hut owners, William S. and Delores Atherton, of Tulsa, Okla., and Pat M. and Jetta Sue Murphy, of Bartlesville, Okla., as well as manager Lynn Smith, of Shell Knob.

In addition to violations caused by improperly treated wastewater, Nixon said the restaurant allegedly violated Missouri drinking-water laws by installing an unprotected connection between its drinking water lines and the sewage lines in an effort to dilute the sewage.
