The city of Noel has gained statewide recognition.
Last month, the city was awarded third place in Category III of the Missouri Community Betterment Awards.
The program recognizes communities for extraordinary betterment efforts, which, for Noel, includes a new Literacy Center.
Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan presented the award at the annual Missouri Betterment Conference in Columbia.

BluCurrent Credit Union held a June 21 grand opening at an office building it renovated at 4520 S. National Ave.; Ozark Mountain Gymnastics changed ownership; and a Branson theater property made way for a new entertainment business with the opening of Star Concert Hall.
