The Mount Vernon R-V School District is adding on.
Joplin Construction Design and Management is being paid $1.6 million to add new classrooms to the elementary school, as well as tear down an existing wing.
A multipurpose room will be built where the wing formerly stood. The 11 new classrooms are expected to be completed by early next year.
