The city of Monett is feeling some growing pains due to recent building projects.
A combination of highway building, home building and improvements to the airport are part of the growth.
Work began last fall on an extension to the city's airport runway, and Wal-Mart also is playing a role in the birth of a bigger city.
The Rogers, Ark.,-based company bought 30 acres of land at the southwest corner of U.S. 60. The highway will be widened for the discount store, and the Wal-Mart Supercenter expects to open in April.
Also in the works is a new Ramey Supermarket to be built near a new high school, and 400 new homes are slated to be built.
The Industrial Development Authority of Monett stated it is focusing on bringing as many new businesses to the city as possible.
