A nearly $4 million construction project is under way to consolidate operations for Contract Freighters Inc. in a single Joplin location.
Work has started on a 65,000-square-foot maintenance building at CFI headquarters at 4701 E. 32nd St.
When completed late this year, the project will allow truck and tractor maintenance operations to move from the trucking company's former headquarters site on Davis Boulevard.
Most operations for the company moved in 1993 after CFI completed construction of its headquarters on a 160-acre tract on East 32nd Street.
Completion of the maintenance building will consolidate all CFI operations at the site; the former Davis Boulevard location is for sale.
Nabholz Construction Company is contractor on the $3.9 million project.
