Music can be heard throughout the halls of the Missouri Southern State College campus.
The 35 semifinalists for the seventh biennial Missouri Southern International Piano Competition have been selected and are now practicing for the finals.
The finalists represent 14 countries, including Canada, China, Japan, Romania, Taiwan and the United States. Twenty-eight countries initially entered.
The pianists, ranging in age from 13 to 30, will compete for prizes totaling
$24,000.
The competition begins April 21 and ends April 25.
Host families from around the area will be taking care of the pianists, feeding them, showing them the area and driving them to and from practices.
