A Joplin resident and Joplin Globe employee has received an award for her service to a local non-profit organiza-
tion.
Cathy Wheeler, administrative assistant and long-time volunteer, has received the United Way's annual Outstanding Volunteer Award.
Wheeler has been a volunteer for the United Way for the past 10 years, where she has acted as company captain, regiment leader and co-chair of the industrial division.
She has also taken the time to visit all 19 agencies the United Way serves, to see firsthand how they operate and where the money from United Way goes.
