The city of Joplin has been given the go-ahead to begin building a new outlet mall at Rangeline and Interstate 44 near the Cracker Barrel Restaurant.
The Joplin Planning and Zoning Commission approved the plan at the end of last month.
Development plans for a 14-screen theater, owned by Hollywood Theaters, were approved, despite opposition from some area residents.
The project will house a 58,000-square-foot theater with stadium seating. The theater will be able to seat nearly 3,000 people.
A 200,000-square-foot outlet mail is planned, with the first phase comprising 32,000 square feet.
The mall will feature brand-name goods at discount prices.
