Austin Allen Harrison has received the 1998 Pioneer Broadcaster Award from the department of communications at Missouri Southern State College, Joplin.
Harrison founded television stations in Joplin in the 1940s and '50s, including KODE-TV, Channel 12. He also established UHF stations in six states, including Missouri.
Harrison received his master's degree in business administration from Harvard University.
